Heritage
Six decades on Colaba Causeway, told through the moments that shaped the house.
1965
A counter on Colaba Causeway
Rasulbhai Adamji opens a small leather atelier next to the Colaba Police Station. The first pieces are hand-cut at the back of the shop.
1972
Pattern B688 is cut
The original shoulder bag pattern enters the atelier. Forty thousand of them follow over the next five decades.
1981
The first export ship
A consignment of pen cases and wallets sails for the United Kingdom. International stockists begin to find their way to Mumbai.
1995
Brass fittings, in-house
The brass-fittings division is brought under the same roof. Every buckle, snap, and turn-lock is now cast and burnished by Adamis.
2003
Royal visitors
The Prince of Luxembourg and the Prince of Hungary visit the flagship on their respective state visits to India.
2010
The named series
The Italian-named line begins — Aria, Stephano, Beyonce, Carolina — designed for the modern carry, made on the original 1965 patternblocks.
2018
Ten ateliers
The tenth manufacturing unit opens. Every piece in the house is now made within forty kilometres of the flagship.
2026
A digital house
Sixty years on, Adamis publishes online. The flagship door, the patternbook, and the artisans remain the same.
